Glenborrodale Castle Gatehouse
Sleeps 6
The gatehouse was built in 1850. With its rounded turret and original stone walls it is full of character. As the name suggest the house guards the gateway to the castle and grounds. At the Eastern boundary of the estate only 10 minutes from Salen and the rode to Mallaig, it is an ideal base from which to explore the West coast.
The local coast is rugged and beautiful, otters are regularly seen in the bay and around the offshore islands. Next door is an RSPB nature reserve, and guided walks depart daily from the Glenmore Visitor Centre, which has an excellent café and stocks Sunart Suppers.
At the end of the day you might like to relax by the fire with a malt whisky – the offices of the Adelphi Distillery are in basement of the castle.
There are three bedrooms; one double and two twins.
