Shooting
Rough ShootingThis is not a poor relation as its name implies of driven shooting. It is a less formal sport where all quarry may take rise or run before you. This popular form of shooting is one of the most interesting available. You can expect to shoot the wily woodcock, snipe and the bolting rabbit.
Wild FowlingIn contrast to the rough shooting, one’s thoughts may turn to the pursuit of ducks and geese. This solitary sport takes place from the late autumn into the depths of winter. Although extensively shot inland these wary birds are probably best appreciated against the lonely backdrops of this remote corner of Scotland. Our saltings and coastline ring to the clamour of wild geese and the whistling of duck wings as they hurtle overhead. In the glow of evening and at the first flush of dawn, these are experiences that will never be forgotten.
Game ShootingThe epitome of British sport is practised in two ways at Ardnamurchan: rough shooting and wildfowling. These sports originated on these islands in the 19th century and our woodcock shooting is some of the finest in Scotland. Although you may be prepared, a twisting snipe or darting woodcock will test the most able gun.
